After a serious horse-riding accident in May, D12 Performance member Anne Widger has made an incredible comeback, completing the TRYKA doubles race alongside her sister on 31st October.
Back in May, Anne suffered a serious fall from a horse, leaving her facing a challenging road to recovery. Part of that journey involved rebuilding the muscles around her spine and gradually regaining her strength, fitness and confidence.
Determined to get back to doing what she loves, Anne returned to D12 Performance in July, where she began working closely with coaches Colm, Sinéad and the team.
With a carefully paced approach to strength training, plenty of encouragement and the right support, Anne gradually started to rebuild her fitness and confidence.
Just a few months later, on 31st October, she crossed the TRYKA finish line alongside her sister. An incredible achievement and a moment that meant so much more than simply completing a race.
More Than Just Fitness
For Anne, the experience has reinforced the importance of strength training, not just for improving fitness, but for building a stronger, more resilient body that can help us navigate life's unexpected challenges.
Reflecting on her journey, Anne said:
"I'm incredibly proud of how far I've come. This journey has reinforced just how important strength training is, not just for fitness, but for giving your body the foundations to recover and overcome life's unexpected challenges."
She also had a special message for the D12 team:
"A massive thank you to Colm, Sinéad and everyone at D12 Performance for the encouragement and support along the way. I couldn't be happier to be back doing what I love!"
A Huge Congratulations from Everyone at D12!
We couldn't be prouder of Anne and everything she's achieved over the past few months.
Her journey is a brilliant reminder that progress looks different for everyone. Sometimes it's about lifting heavier, running faster or achieving a personal best. Other times, it's about rebuilding confidence, taking things one step at a time and getting back to the activities you love.
Congratulations, Anne! What an incredible achievement, and we're delighted to have been part of your journey.
This is what the D12 community is all about. 💛
